LEMME TELL YOU HOW I FEEL ABOUT IT
President Donald Trump is approaching his first 100 days in office. The mainstream media is falling all over itself to tell you just how bad that 100 days has been. It has been 100 days of negative reporting. You can look it up. You can be sure that they will generate more negative stories and then focus on those stories to condemn President Trump and call him a failure. They lie.
The first thing that you must remember is that President Barack Obama had eight years to create the nightmare that we are just waking up from. There has been no President play the race card and the identity card more than Obama. That has left us a very divided nation. Additionally, Mr. Obama’s innovative world policy of leading from behind left a power vacuum that has been filled by all the bad actors in the world. The world has been thumbing their collective noses at us since the infamous red line in the sand. That power vacuum has now been filled by a President with great resolve. Score 1 for President Trump.
Now let us get into some of the campaign promises that Mr. Trump made while running for office. The number one item that you can see and measure is that he promised to roll back those Obama Executive Orders that are harmful to both business and citizens. He has delivered roundly on that one. For instance, the burdens on the coal industry have been eliminated and now the cost of your electricity this summer may not skyrocket. That is one of 12 that you can look up.
Mr. Trump promised to control our borders. Just by promising that and getting elected, the illegal border crossings have dropped by 75% to 90% depending on who is doing the numbers. He has not given up on building the wall on the Mexican border despite the media’s frenzy over that one. The wall is still promised and he has not given up on making Congress deliver that.
Then there is the promise to reduce our taxes and overhaul the tax structure. That is not an easy chore. I, personally, am a fan of the Fair Tax Plan and would love to see the IRS disbanded. Speaking of disbanded, government agencies are no longer eternal. The president is looking closely at those agencies that are nothing more than a burden to the citizens.
President Trump has promised to rebuild our armed forces, and having a 350 ship Navy would be a great plus in these trying times. He has so far demonstrated to my satisfaction that he will not micromanage the Pentagon. He has appeared happy to give policy and direction and let on-scene commanders work out how it is done. The recent 60 Tomahawk strike on Libya comes to mind as an example.
Because Washington DC is a political entity, having a life of its own, you cannot hold the President accountable for all the issues that arise. That would be the mainstream media doing that. I will grade Mr. Trump on his first 100 days by giving him 100% based on effort. You must admit it has been totally entertaining watching the media gnaw its feet off trying to keep up with him. What is your assessment?
