WTH is wrong with people? Incest?? Really?? I don’t know who is more wrong in this situation: The nasty incest couple, or New York for allowing it!! Where is the morality?
New York ruled unanimously that since they do not share a father, and there is therefore no “genetic risk” to the children they have, then it was fine because it was no different than first cousins marrying.
The union between Vu Truong and his bride Huyen Nguyen, who is from Vietnam, was declared illegal by an immigration tribunal when she applied for permission to remain in the United States following their 2000 wedding in the town of Rochester, New York.
Announcing their decision, Judge Robert Smith said: “First cousins are allowed to marry in New York, and I conclude that it was not the Legislature’s purpose to avert the similar, relatively small genetic risk inherent in relationships like this one.”
Truong was 24 at the time of the wedding, and his wife/niece was only 19. She was barely old enough to fly the nest. Was she forced into this situation? There are many questions that can arise from this situation.
The couple’s attorney Michael Marszalkowski welcomed the decision, saying: “It really was the equivalent of cousins marrying, which has been allowed in New York state for well over 100 years.
“They have stayed together for 14 years and counting. This really was an all-or-nothing issue for them.
They keep referring to the marriage as being similar to first cousins and therefore it does not matter….Uh, HELLO!? Why are cousins getting married?? Billions of fish in the sea, and you choose to settle down with cousin Billy Bob? That’s just sad.
