Following the announcement that unknown fashion designer Sophie Theallet, who helped clothe Michele Obama, will refuse to dress Melania Trump as FLOTUS, citing her husband’s alleged racist campaign, world-famous designer Tommy Hilfiger believes that’s a bad idea.
In an interview with Women’s Wear Daily, Hilfiger said Melania was “very beautiful” and that designers should be “proud” to have her don their outfits.
“I think any designer should be proud to dress her,” he told the publication. “Ivanka is equally as beautiful and smart, although she wears her own clothes. I don’t think people should become political about it. Everyone was very happy to dress Michelle [Obama] as well. I think they look great in the clothes. You’re not gonna get much more beautiful than Ivanka or Melania.”
